Children in Need Update
Thanks to everyone who came along and skied, snowboarded and tobogganed through the 24 hours, and everyone who helped make it a fantastic event. In total, Pudsey skied and boarded 925 runs from the top, and 59 from half way, which added together made a grand total of 14,911.378 vertical metres. Over the 24hrs we raised the staggering amount of £2,200 at the slope - not bad for a nights work!
If you would still like to sponsor the challenge or make a donation on line then you click on the donate button to visit our JustGiving page.
To see how we did our status page is still online.
Well done to the team from Saville's who managed the furthest in an hour - 40 runs. Also session 3 of Junior Club won the Junior Club Challenge of most metres skied.

Children in Need 2009
Pudsey's 24hr Everest relay
Cambridgeshire, home of the Fens, is not well known for its hills let alone any mountains, but on Friday 20th November Bassingbourn Snowsports Centre intend to ski Pudsey down the height of the world's tallest mountain, Mt Everest for Children in Need. In a 24 hour ski marathon relay, Pudsey will get passed from skier to skier, whisked to the top of our slope and skied down again. To reach our target we'll need 564 runs down our main slope starting at 6:00pm Friday, skiing right through the night to finish at 6:00pm on Saturday 21st.
We think we can do it, but we need your help to get together some relay teams. So if you are a competent skier or snowboarder and would like to put together a group of friends or work mates then get in touch. You'll get to ski on our recently re-furbished main slope at Bassingbourn, just north of Royston, on our stock of brand new Salomon skis, and put some money in the bucket for CIN. Along with the glory, the team that puts in the best performance will each get a complementary day pass to come back and ski with us again, vaild through out the 2009-2010 season.
And there will be plenty of activities for those not strapping on their skis with Tobogganing over on our second slope. Running for 24hrs too it's a great way of having loads fun whilst raising money for CIN.
|
|
We suggest a minimum donation to CIN of £5 per head per half hour of relay time - and we'll aim to give every body at least an hour on the slope with Pudsey. After your relay stint you're more than welcome to carry on skiing. We also suggest that the minimum number for a team is four, but don't worry if you can't make that number we'll try and pair you up with some other skiers.
We'll be keeping our website up to date through out the event so everybody will be able to see how far Pudsey has skied, and which teams are out in front.
How to book
Please contact our booking secretary, for car passes and to arrange which activities and when you would like to take part. We look forward to seeing you and raising lots of money for Children In Need.

Be safe whilst raising money
|
|
|
| We want you to have fun whilst raising money for CIN but for your safety and the others using our facilities, we'll ask you to follow some simple rules. |
|
- Pudesy has right of way
Pudsey will have his own priority lane for the lift, think of him as a one bear ski school.
- Wear the right gear
All activities on the slope require long sleeves, and gloves. Night skiers bring your warm ski clothes too. At CIN 2007 we had perfect conditions over night with a heavy frost.
- Stay sensible
Anybody skiing recklessly or out of control will be asked to leave the slope just as we normally would. Besides you'll over shoot the handover point, and actually take longer.
